From: 03/27/2010
Thru: 03/29/2010
Activities: Canoeing, Kayaking
Skills: Strenuous
Fees (if any): $15 - $25/shuttle fee; $35 canoe rental

Let's go canoeing way down on the Suwanee River! The Suwanee River is a beautiful blackwater river that starts in the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia and winds its way down through Florida to the Gulf of Mexico. The section we'll be doing is just south of the Georgia-Florida border, and we'll see very few people on this stretch of the river. It also includes Florida's only class III rapids, Big Shoals. We will drive down Thursday evening to White Springs, Florida. On Friday we will shuttle to the put-in, and then canoe down to our first camping area. Saturday will be leisurely as we float down the river to our next camping area. Sunday morning we will paddle to the takeout. After lunch at a nearby restaurant, we’ll head on home. The trip will cost approximately $50, depending on the number of participants and other such factors. Novices are welcome, but everyone should have canoed before and be in shape. I need a minimum number of participants, so please let me know if you are interested.
