SAPELO ISLAND
May 11 - 14, 2007

Twenty-five happy WNGers colonized the Cabretta Island campground and beach again May 11-14 this year, just across the marsh from Sapelo Island proper. The weather was delightful, and so was the group.

We encountered an alligator up the beach where we'd never seen or heard of one before. (No, we didn't get up close to measure it!)

Thanks to Mario, our potluck feast in camp was again well-planned and delicious. A hike up to the old church at Raccoon Bluff provided a nice inland diversion, but otherwise it was lazy sunning, beachcombing, and hanging out in camp. Check out the trip Alan is leading there November 1-4 - or look for Don's again in the spring. It's a cushy car-camping type experience at one of our most beautiful destinations.
